TIPA (Toward International Peace through the Arts) will present the 2 PM event, which will mark the inaugural presentation of "Matinees at Malachy's." St. Malachy's, located on 49th Street in the heart of the theatre district, is known as the Actors' Chapel. In addition to Grimes (Unsinkable Molly Brown), Wallach (The Rose Tattoo), Sternhagen (Seascape) and Weaver (Child's Play) the readings of Chekhov's short stories will also include Betsy von Furstenberg (The Gingerbread Lady) and Bess Rous ("Gossip Girl").

"Anton Chekhov is widely recognized as one of the greatest playwrights and short story writers of all time. Like all great writers, he belongs not only to his native country but to the whole world. It is fitting that we take note of the 150th anniversary of his birth by bringing some of his best short stories to New York's TIPA audience. Each story is like a miniature play, illuminating some aspect of the human condition," TIPA founder Stanley Eugene Tannen said in a statement.

St. Malachy's, The Actors' Chapel, is located at 239 West 49th Street.
