News Tampa's Gorilla Has Stop Kiss, A Number and Hampton's Stratford Hoedown in 2005-06 Gorilla Theatre in Tampa, Florida, has announced its 2005-06 season, to include the area premiere of Caryl Churchill's play about fathers, sons and cloning, A Number.

The drama will be co-produced with Stageworks and run Sept. 8-25.

The Gorilla season also includes:

  • Aubrey Hampton's Ye Olde Oxford Opera and the Stratford Hoedown. "In the style of the award-nominated GBS & Company, Aubrey Hampton tackles the perplexing question of the identity of William Shakespeare. This play with songs features famous Elizabethans such as Edward de Vere and Ben Jonson, as well as excerpts from Shakespeare's plays." Oct. 27-Nov. 13.
  • Stop Kiss by Diana Son, co-produced with Stageworks, directed by Kerry Glamsch. A warm play about coming of age and embracing sexual identity, in the context of a hate crime. Jan. 5-22, 2006.


  • Ulysses in Nighttown by Marjorie Barkentin, directed by Nancy Cole. The award-wining play adapted from James Joyce's novel, "Ulysses." March 2-19, 2006.
  • Young Dramatists Competition '06 by teen writers. The popular slate of new one-acts. April 27-May 7, 2006.
  • TBA by Susan Hussey. Chosen in 1999 as Playwright of the Year by The Weekly Planet, Hussey has written two one-act plays that explore the controversial world of cancer and its treatments. Hussey's 1992 play on AIDS and breast cancer, The Dressing Room, was named one of the Top 10 Performing Arts Events by The St. Petersburg Times. June 1-18, 2006. The theatre also presents jazz events throughout its season.
