The extended, acclaimed Broadway premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s Choir Boy wraps up its limited run March 10 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Directed by Trip Cullman with choreography by Camille A. Brown, the Manhattan Theatre Club production officially opened January 8, marking the Broadway debut of the Oscar-winning writer.
Choir Boy stars Jonathan Burke, Nicholas L. Ashe, John Clay III, Chuck Cooper, Caleb Eberhardt, J. Quinton Johnson, Austin Pendleton, Daniel Bellomy, Gerald Caesar, and Marcus Gladney. Burke took over the leading role of Pharus in February when Jeremy Pope, the show's original star, departed to join the cast of Ain’t Too Proud — The Life and Times of The Temptations (now on Broadway) as scheduled.

Filled with music and heart, Choir Boy follows the hopes and dreams of the young singers at the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys—an institution dedicated to the education of strong, ethical Black men. The show began performances December 12, 2018; read reviews for the Broadway production here.
Rounding out the creative team are Jason Michael Webb (music direction, arrangements, and original music), David Zinn (scenic and costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Fitz Patton (original music and sound design), Cookie Jordan (hair & make-up design), and Thomas Schall (fight director).
