The New York Post reports that pop singer Taylor Swift, "Glee" and Spring Awakening star Lea Michele, Tony winner and Woody Allen favorite Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood ("The Wrestler," "Whatever Works") have all auditioned to play the role of the street urchin who sings the ballad "On My Own."

Michele previously played the role in the sold-out Hollywood Bowl staging of the musical directed by Richard Jay-Alexander.

Directed by Tom Hooper, the film will feature the previously reported Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne and Geoffrey Rush.

The Les Miz film, from Universal and Working Title, will be released Dec. 7, 2012, according to Universal. William Nicholson ("Gladiator," "Nell," "Shadowlands") is writing the screenplay.
