Off-Broadway's 59E59 Theaters will present the U.S. premiere of a stage adaptation of the film Terms of Endearment in Theater A October 29-December 11. It replaces the previously announced Madame La Gimp, which has been postponed.

Dan Gordon's play is based on the book by Pulitzer Prize winner Larry McMurtry and the Oscar-winning screenplay by James L. Brooks.

Michael Parva will direct the limited engagement, which is produced by The Directors Company, Julian Schlossberg, and Roy Furman in association with Invictus Theater Company and GR8 Theatricals. Casting and other details will be announced at a later date.

Terms of Endearment, according to press notes, “traces the relationship between a highly opinionated mother and her feisty daughter as they seek to find humor and courage in the face of life’s challenges. This funny and touching story about love captures the delicate, and sometimes fractured, bonds between mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, and lovers both old and new.”

The 1983 movie starred Jack Nicholson, Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine. The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Tickets are $25-$70 ($25-$49 for 59E59 Members). To purchase tickets, call Ticket Central at (212) 279-4200 or visit www.59e59.org.
