Tony nominees Terrence Mann and Will Swenson have been tapped for the New Group’s 2018 production of Jerry Springer – The Opera. The Off-Broadway staging will begin performances January 23.

Opening night is set for February 22, at the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at the Pershing Square Signature Center, where the limited engagement is scheduled to play through March 11.

The comic opera features a score by Richard Thomas, who also penned the book and lyrics with Stewart Lee. John Rando will direct the new staging, with Chris Bailey taking over from the previously announced Joshua Bergasse as choreographer.

Mann, a Tony nominee for Pippin, Beauty and the Beast, and Les Misérables who last appeared on Broadway in Tuck Everlasting, will take on the title role of the famed TV host. Meanwhile, Swenson, who earned a Tony nomination for Hair and currently appears on Broadway in Waitress, will play Springer's trickiest guest yet—the Devil. A date for his final bow in Waitress has not yet been announced.

Swenson and Mann share a signature role: Les Misérables’ Javert; Mann originated the role in the Broadway premiere, and Swenson took on the role in the 2014 revival.
