PlayBlog Terrence McNally-Tom Kirdahy Marry in DC As long as he was in Washington, D.C. anyway for his three "Nights at the Opera" retrospective at the Kennedy Center (The Lisbon Traviata, Master Class and The Golden Age), playwright Terrence McNally decided to up and marry his longtime companion and newbie producer, Tom Kirdahy, April 6.

The wedding ceremony, relayed McNally, was held near the Kennedy Center, "just down the street by the river on the banks of the Potomac. It was lovely."

Stars from the D.C. revivals were pressed into service, said Kirdahy. The opera-buff best friends of The Lisbon Traviata, John Glover and Malcolm Gets, served as witnesses, and the Callas of Master Class, Tyne Daly, read Shakespeare.

Musical duties were executed by Callas' first student "victim," Alexandra Silber. "She sang 'He Loves, and He Loves,'" said McNally, "but don't tell the Gershwin estate."
