The production marks the Off-Broadway debut of the New Jersey-based theatre company 3S Theatre Collective, which has previously presented the Andrew Lippa concert Welcome to the World and the recent New Jersey production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch with MAC winner Jonathan Whitton.
Under the direction of 3STC artistic director Marc Eardley, The Affair in 22B will begin previews Oct. 13 and play a limited engagement through Oct. 25 at the Producer's Club. An official opening is set for Oct. 16.
Jay Christopher's 1984 play, according to production notes, "revolves around the relationship of the two main characters, Abbey and Paul, who share their lives in a run-down New York apartment, and who are looking to build a successful and meaningful relationship, though Paul's eagerness towards conflict and negativity plays an integral role in the downfall of the couple's companionship."
Renee Rakel will make her New York debut in the role of Abbey. 3STC will announce casting for the role of Paul in the coming weeks.
