According to a report in The Stage, there will be a major new production of Sandy Wilson's musical (written in the 1950's but set in the 1920's), The Boyfriend.

The production will star Broadway diva Liliane Montevecchi and ex-"Coronation Street" star Roy Barraclough.

The Boyfriend will open in Plymouth in the spring of 2003, prior to a U.K. tour and then, it is hoped, a West End run. A light-hearted spoof of anyone-for-tennis style romantic comedies of the 1920's, The Boyfriend remains Wilson's best-known play. It was originally staged at the Players' Theatre in 1953 before moving to Wyndhams and to Broadway, where the young Julie Andrews scored a great personal success.
