News The Boyz Get Hungary: Altar Boyz to Run in Budapest The Off-Broadway musical Altar Boyz, which tells of a fictional Christian boy band, will begin in Budapest on March 23.

Variety reports that the production will go up at the 520-seat Thalia Theater. The local producer, the Pentaton Agency, hopes to tour the show throughout Hungary after the Budapest run.

The company, which will include the Hungarian actors Attilla Dolhai and Arpad Zsolt Meszaros, will record a cast album.

The production will be the musical's fourth. The Off-Broadway company, which opened March 1, 2005, continues at New World Stages. A U.S. touring production began Oct. 10 in Chicago and will include Dallas, Tucson, Washington DC, Pittsburgh and the West coast, among other locations. A third production opened in Seoul in the spring.

Altar Boyz is directed by Stafford Arima and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli. It has music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker with a book by Kevin Del Aguila, and is based on a concept by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport.
