Gerald Freedman directs Wendy Kesselman's Tony Award-nominated adaptation of the play that will run through Oct. 30. Kesselman based her version of Frank's account of the Holocaust on the 1955 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett.

Ephraim (Into the Woods) stars in the title role with Brand (The Neil Simon Plays) as Peter Van Daan and Greenberg (Laughter on the 23rd Floor) as Otto Frank. The cast also includes Lauren Culpepper as Margot Frank, Felicity Jones (Metamorphoses) as Edith Frank, Lou Liberatore (Burn This) as Mr. Dussel, Mimi Lieber (Brooklyn Boy) as Mrs. Van Daan, Allen McCullough as Mr. Kraler, Stephen Vinovich (Lost in Yonkers) as Mr. Van Daan, Monica West as Meip, Philip M. Gardiner, Jack Kesy and Nicholas Wilder.

According to Westport, The Diary of Anne Frank "tells the story of two years in one girl's remarkable life. During the Second World War, Anne Frank and her family go into hiding to escape the Nazis. Her account of the time spent in a small Amsterdam attic remains among the greatest personal stories from the darkest moment in history, and one of the most compelling coming of age tales ever told."

Designing the production are John Ezell (scenic design), Willa Kim (costume design), Travis McHale (lighting design) and Rusty Wandell (sound design). The Westport production incorporates Ezell and Wandall's designs, which were created for the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis run of the play last winter.

Anne Frank documented her life within her diary as her family and four others hid for over two years in a small flat hidden behind a bookcase in an Amsterdam warehouse. Always optimistic despite the circumstances she faced, Frank's words live on with translations in some 60 languages, and over 25 million copies of her diary have been sold throughout the world.
