The Good Fight’s Christine Baranski Has Acting in Her Genes | Playbill

Video The Good Fight’s Christine Baranski Has Acting in Her Genes The Tony and Emmy winner—and Mamma Mia! star—reflects on her induction in the Theater Hall of Fame.

Christine Baranski, star of CBS All Access’ The Good Fight and longtime theatre star, stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, upon the Season 3 premiere of the streaming series.

Baranski was inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame in November and, though a regular on the late night show, had not seen Colbert since.

“I was so moved by that award because you don't get a Theater Hall of Fame recognition unless you've spent a good deal of time on the boards, as they say. It's not for one performance; it's for years of work in the theatre,” she said.

And apparently, theatre is in Baranski’s blood.

“My grandpartents were actors in the Polish theatre in Buffalo,” she said. “Back then, there was a really strong Polish-American theatre community. They did plays in Polish—and musicals—and they were actors.

“My grandmother lived with us. I shared a bedroom with my Nana and she was an Auntie Mame type,” she continued. “She actually wrote her own comedy show on Polish radio.”

After reprising her role as Tanya in this past summer’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Baranski is proud to continue leading The Good Fight. “I played this character for seven years on The Good Wife,” she said of the predecessor to her spinoff. “She's intelligent, well-dressed, am accomplished lawyer. She was a woman who was in the room where it happened with the guys; she knew how to wield power.”
