Cabaret & Concert News The Heavyweights Plan to Lift Three Man Little Shop of Horrors July 28 The Alan Menken-Howard Ashman musical gets an unusual production in NYC.
Three-Man Little Shop of Horrors starring the Heavyweights

The monster musical Little Shop of Horrors will get an unusual miniaturized concert performance July 28 at 9:30 PM in New York, when the comedy trio The Heavyweights stages the world premiere of their Three Man Little Shop of Horrors at Feinstein’s/54 Below.

Little Shop of Horrors, which had a cast of 13 (plus understudies) in its Broadway incarnation, will be performed by Michael Buchanan (The Addams Family, Cry-Baby), Jeremy Geller (The Great Blueness, Fat Camp), and Max Wilcox (Glee, Gigantic). The three quick-change artists will play all the roles but one in the show about a nerdy plant store employee who discovers a talking, carnivorous plant from outer space that promises to make his dreams come true.

The new title is a bit of a misnomer as the trio will be aided by special guest Skyler Volpe, who played Mimi in the Rent 20th anniversary tour. The show will have music direction by Stephen Ferri.

Three Man Little Shop of Horrors—Starring “The Heavyweights” will play Feinstein’s/54 Below, located at 254 West 54th Street. There is a $30-$70 cover charge plus a $25 food and beverage minimum. Tickets can be ordered at 54Below.com.
