News The Hobbit Arrives for the Holidays in London

Last year's Christmas sensation The Hobbit is back in London for a limited holiday run at the Queen's Theatre at Shaftesbury Avenue from now until Jan.19, 2002. Glyn Robbin's stage adaptation of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit, produced by Vanessa Ford had a hugely successful run at the Queen's Theatre last year.

Tolkien's books have mythic themes presented as compelling and entertaining stories. The Hobbit takes place in Middle-Earth, and circles around the main character Bilbo Baggins who is a hobbit. Together with Gandalf, the wizard, Thorin Oakenshield and some dwarves, Bilbo sets out on an adventurous journey to reclaim the hidden treasure guarded by the evil dragon Smaug.

Coincidentally, the Hollywood film version of JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, which is part of the mythical series, will be released during The Hobbit's run in London. The first film in the trilogy is entitled The Fellowship of the Ring and will star Liv Tyler, Ian McKellen, and Elijah Wood.
