News The Mountaintop's Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett, Katori Hall, Kenny Leon Appear on "Charlie Rose" Dec. 27 Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett, who currently co-star in Broadway's The Mountaintop, will be guests on "Charlie Rose" Dec. 27.

The episode, set to air in New York at 11 PM ET, also features Mountaintop's Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall and director Kenny Leon, who received a Tony nomination in 2010 for his direction of Fences. Also appearing on the broadcast is chef Jacques Pepin. The Mountaintop, which extended its run at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre through Jan. 22, 2012, features Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Bassett as Camae opposite Academy Award nominee Jackson as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Taking place on April 3, 1968, The Mountaintop, press notes state, is a "gripping reimagining of events the night before the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. After delivering his legendary 'I've Been to the Mountaintop' speech, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis while a storm rages outside. When a mysterious young woman delivers room service, King is forced to confront his past, as well as his legacy to his people."
