News "The Normal Heart" Film Receives Television Academy Honor Ryan Murphy's film adaptation of the Larry Kramer AIDS drama The Normal Heart, which premiered last spring on HBO, is among the recipients of the eighth annual Television Academy Honors, according to Deadline.

Directed by Emmy winner Murphy (“American Horror Story,” “Glee”), Kramer adapted his landmark stage production for the screen. The cast featured Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts, Matt Bomer and Jim Parsons.

Also honored are "black-ish," "Crime and Punishment" (ABC); "E:60" "Dream On: Stories of Boston's Strongest" (ESPN); "Paycheck to Paycheck: The Life & Times of Katrina Gilbert" (HBO); "Transparent" (Amazon); and "Virunga" (Netflix).
