The Originalist received its world premiere at Arena Stage in 2015. The Washington, D.C., theatre has partnered with Middle Finger Productions to bring the show to 59E59 Theaters Off-Broadway, where performances will begin July 14.

In The Originalist, a liberal law school graduate (Ifeachor) embarks on a clerkship with Scalia, who turns out to be both infuriating and a terrific mentor.

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith will return to direct the NYC engagement, scheduled through August 19. Brett Mack (Asolo Rep, Chautauqua Theatre) will round out the cast.

The design team is made up of Misha Kachman (set designer), Joseph P. Salasovich (costume designer), Colin K. Bills (lighting designer), and Eric Shimelonis (sound designer). The production stage manager is Susan R. White.
