The tribute to Morecambe and Wise, The Play What I Wrote, by and starring Hamish McColl and Sean Foley (with material by Eddie Braben), is now previewing.

The Play What I Wrote is a fast-moving comedy which takes as its premise the real-life attempt by producer David Pugh to get The Right Size double-act Hamish McColl and Sean Foley to star in a play about Morecambe and Wise, the much-loved comic double-act whose televison variety shows were a hugely popular national institution for over twenty years.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh - who is often thought of as a serious actor because of his Shakespearean track record, but has always been adept at playing and directing comedy, in Shakespeare and elsewhere - the play is an affectionate tribute to Morecambe and Wise via the energy and physical comedy of The Right Size.

A feature of the play will be the presence - in the play within a play that the show's title refers to - of a surprise guest celebrity.

The Play What I Wrote began previews on Oct. 20 and opens on Nov. 5.
