Godspell, the Stephen Schwartz rock musical that officially opened Nov. 7, recorded its cast album Nov. 8 and 14. Here, Playbill Video takes the camera behind-the-scenes at the recording session.

Directed by Daniel Goldstein with choreography by Tony Award nominee Christopher Gattelli, the cast comprises Hunter Parrish (Spring Awakening, "Weeds") as Jesus, Wallace Smith (American Idiot) as Judas, Uzo Aduba (Coram Boy), Nick Blaemire (Cry-Baby), Celisse Henderson ("The Electric Company," In Transit), Morgan James (Wonderland, The Addams Family), Telly Leung (Rent, "Glee"), Lindsay Mendez (Everyday Rapture, Grease), Anna Maria Perez de Tagle ("Hannah Montana," "Fame") and George Salazar (Spring Awakening national tour).

Godspell's Tony-nominated score features classics such as "Day by Day," "Prepare Ye," "Bless the Lord," "Save the People" and "Light of the World." Here, Playbill caught a glimpse of "Day by Day" and "Save the People."

The musical originally ran for more than 2,600 performances in New York and spawned successful touring productions in major U.S. cities, a 1973 motion picture adaptation and countless international engagements for the past 40 years. Visit for more information.
