Directed by Kevin Newbury, Tom Rowan's new comedy will officially open June 13 and will play a limited engagement through July 1. The cast also features two-time Tony nominee Vivian Reed as well as Jeremy Beck, Tug Coker, Eve Gigliotti, Mark Light-Orr, Melissa Picarello and Carrington Vilmont.
The design team comprises Charlie Corcoran (scenic design), Joanne Haas (costume design), D.M. Wood (lighting design) and Jill BC DuBoff (sound design).
The Second Tosca, according to press notes, "takes place backstage at Opera California during rehearsals for Tosca. Meet a rising operatic star, her rivalrous brother, the controlling maestro who wants to marry her, a diva with a dog, an assistant with a dream, and a meddling singing ghost."
For her performance as the glamorous Lureena in the Philadelphia Theatre Company's world premiere of Adrift in Macao, Rachel de Benedet won the Barrymore Award for Best Actress. She re-created that performance for New York audiences earlier this season in the Primary Stages production of the Christopher Durang-Peter Melnick musical comedy at 59E59 Theaters. De Benedet's Broadway credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and the revivals of Nine and The Sound of Music.
Vivian Reed's Broadway credits include That's Entertainment, Bubbling Brown Sugar, It's So Nice to Be Civilized, The High Rollers Social and Pleasure Club and Marie Christine. The actress was Tony-nominated for her performances in The High Rollers Social and Pleasure Club and Bubbling Brown Sugar and earned both a Theatre World Award and a Drama Desk Award for her work in the latter. Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.
