News The Sound of Music Extends Run at London's Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park The revival of The Sound of Music currently running at London's Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park has extended its run by a week, to now shutter Sept. 14.

It follows record-breaking sales; the musical has already grossed £1.75 million at the box office, the highest-grossing production in the history of the theatre. Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, it stars Charlotte Wakefield as Maria, with Michael Xavier as Captain von Trapp, Helen Hobson as Mother Abbess, Michael Matus as Max Detweiler, Caroline Keiff as Elsa Schraeder, Faye Bookes as Liesl and Joshua Tonks as Rolf Gruber.

The creative team also includes Peter McKIntosh (sets and costumes design), Alistair David (choreographer), Stephen Ridley (musical director), Tim Mitchell (lighting designer), Chris Walker (orchestrator), Nick Lidster for Autograph (sound design), Pippa Ailion (casting director) and Jessica Ronane (children's casting director).
