Albert Maysles will discuss the making of the acclaimed documentary, which was the inspiration for the current Broadway musical Grey Gardens. The 1976 documentary "Grey Gardens" presented the eccentric "Big" Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter "Little" Edie Beale to the world. The two had gone from wealthy socialites to recluses living in squalor in a 28-room mansion in East Hampton. The film is a classic of the American "direct cinema" genre, which Maysles helped establish.

In addition to the relationship that Albert Maysles and his brother David cultivated with the Beales, Maysles will discuss his career and numerous films, including "Gimme Shelter" and "Salesman." In 2006 Maysles released "The Beales of Grey Gardens," containing previously unreleased footage from the original documentary film. Maysles is currently in preparation to release a documentary following the gestation of the Broadway musical Grey Gardens.
