The East Village company will begin the season with a revival of Gene Ruffini's play Homeland, described as "a sobering tale set in an America of the near-future under totalitarianism." It will run Sept. 8-25.

Up next will be Misha Shulman's Desert Sunrise, about a "battle of wits between a young Muslim and a young Jew, set against a backdrop of Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the caves south of Hebron." Dates are Sept. 29-Oct. 23.

Rodolfo Quebleen's Allende will follow, Nov. 3-27. As the title suggests, it is an account of doomed Chilean President Salvador Allende's final moments in the early '70s. Quebleen is the editor of the "Hora Hispana" section of the New York Daily News.

Coming Nov. 11-27 is My Julliard by Gloria Browne. The play is a domestic drama of three generations of African-American women.

Catskill Sonata, meanwhile, a nostalgic portrait of a Catskills resort hotel in the 1950s, by playwright and screenwriter Michael Elias, will run Dec. 1-Jan. 1, 2006. For more information, consult www.theaterforthenewcity.net, or call (212) 475-0108.
