Emily Skeggs and Sydney Lucas, who play Medium Alison and Small Alison, respectively, in Fun Home, received nods for their performances in the Best Featured Actress category alongside Ruthie Ann Miles, who also made her Broadway debut this season as Lady Thiang in The King and I. The trio is up against Broadway veterans Judy Kuhn (who received her fourth Tony nomination with Fun Home) and Tony winner Victoria Clark (who received the only Tony recognition for Gigi).

Leanne Cope and Robert Fairchild, who co-star in An American in Paris (as respective love interests Lise Dassin and Jerry Mulligan), were recognized for their leading roles. Read more about their performances in Playbill's roundup of this season's breakouts.

Speaking of breakouts, Alex Sharp and Micah Stock received nominations in their Broadway debuts. Sharp, who stars as Christopher in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, received a nod for Best Leading Actor in a Play — a tight race, with nominations for Bill Nighy (Skylight), Ben Miles (Wolf Hall), Bradley Cooper (The Elephant Man) and Steven Boyer (Hand to God) — and Stock was nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance as Gus P. Head in It's Only a Play. Stock made a splash as the show's coat-check boy amid the starriest cast on Broadway, which reunited Producers co-stars Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane, neither of whom was nominated this time around.

Geneva Carr reprised her performance as Margery in Hand to God and received a Tony nod for Best Leading Actress in a Play. Other actors who reprised a performance on Broadway (making their debut) and received a Tony nomination include Matthew Beard, who was nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Play as Edward Sergeant in Skylight; Richard McCabe, who was nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Play as Harold Wilson in The Audience; and Lydia Leonard, who was nominated for Best Featured Actress in a Play as Anne Boleyn in Wolf Hall. Film star Ken Watanabe ("Letters From Iwo Jima") and television star Ruth Wilson ("The Affair") traded in the small screen for their first time on Broadway this season. They received Tony nods for their performances as the King of Siam in The King and I (Best Leading Actor in a Musical) and Marianne in Constellations (Best Leading Actress in a Play), respectively.
