News Tickets for Edward Albee's Occupant On Sale April 9; All Seats $20 A quick sell-out is expected April 9 for the world premiere run of Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Albee's new play, a two-actor portrait of famed 20th-century artist Louise Nevelson.

A sales frenzy? Edward Albee's Occupant is not only a new work by a master (in an intimate Off-Broadway theatre, with marquee stars attached), but the tickets are going for $20 each.

Tickets go on sale 1 PM April 9 for Signature Theatre Company's May 6-June 29 world premiere, directed by Pam MacKinnon and starring Tony and Academy Award-winning actress Mercedes Ruehl (Lost in Yonkers, The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?, "The Fisher King") and Emmy winner and Tony nominee Larry Bryggman (Proof, "As the World Turns"). Opening is June 5.

Through The Signature Ticket Initiative, "which seeks to make great theatre accessible to the broadest possible audience," all regularly-priced single tickets ($65) are available for $20 during the regular runs of each production for the entire season.

According to Signature, the play "is a portrait of acclaimed sculptor Louise Nevelson and a quest to capture a charismatic and complex artist and persona. What is the relationship between creator and creation? Who was Louise Nevelson? Only she knew."

Albee, 80, is the master American playwright who has never been afraid of flirting with the absurd or the elliptical in such plays as The Zoo Story; Tiny Alice; The Ballad of the Sad Café; The American Dream; The Sandbox; Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf; A Delicate Balance; The Lady From Dubuque; Seascape; The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?; Three Tall Women; Me, Myself and I, among others. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Seascape, A Delicate Balance and Three Tall Women. He won the Tony Award for Best Play for The Goat and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. Starting at 1 PM April 9, Occupant tickets will be available on Signature's website at www.signaturetheatre.org, by phone at (212) 244-PLAY (7529) and in person at the box office at 555 West 42nd Street.

Albee was Signature's 1993-1994 Playwright-in-Residence.

Sets will be designed by Christine Jones, with costumes by Jane Greenwood and lights by David Lander.
