Tickets are now on sale for the limited 10-week engagement of Cabaret, which opens Mar. 3 at the Wilshire Theatre, starring Teri ("Lois & Clark") Hatcher. Following the Apr. 11 closing the company will launch a national tour.
Los Angeles is the only city on the tour to have reconfigured its theatre to resemble the Kit Kat Club setting of the musical. Robert Brill, who redesigned the Henry Miller in New York for the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Cabaret, has duplicated his work by renovating the orchestra level of the Wilshire Theatre.
Director Sam Mendes, who first staged Cabaret in 1993 at the Donmar Warehouse in London, recently announced the road-company cast. Co-starring with Hatcher are Norbert Butz (Emcee), Dick Latessa (Herr Schultz), Rick Holmes (Clifford Bradshaw), Barbara Andres (Fraulein Schneider), Andy Taylor (Ernst) and Jeanine Morick (Fritzie, Fraulein Kost).
Rob Marshall is the co-director/choreographer. The design team includes Brill (sets), William Ivey Long (costumes), Peggy Eisenhauer and Mike Baldassari (lighting) and Brian Ronan (sound). Cabaret has music & lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, book by Joe Masteroff.
The show plays through Apr. 11 at the Wilshire Theatre, 8440 Wilshire Blvd. Call Ticketmaster or visit website ticketmaster.com.
