Starting Oct. 16, Los Angeles gets "Times Tix" -- its own, same-day, half price ticket outlet, located in the Beverly Center on 8500 Beverly Boulevard (at La Cienega). Created by the non-profit consortium of theatres and producers, Theatre L.A., "Times Tix" is sponsored by the Beverly Center, the Ahmanson Foundation, the L.A. County Arts Commission, the Dept. Of Cultural Affairs and the Los Angeles Times.
The booth is similar to ones in London, New York and Chicago, offering cut-price tickets each afternoon to performances that same evening.
Said Bradley M. Burlingame, president of the Theatre L.A. Board of Governors, "Finally, arts patrons in L.A. can experience the thrill of scoring same-day, half-price tickets to productions, and Theatre L.A. will [do its] part to increase awareness of the breadth and depth of legitimate theatre in Los Angeles."
More than 150 L.A. Theatres will take part in the program. The Times Tix board will post daily listings at the Center, and selected listings will also be broadcast on KGIL AM 1260 at 8:55 AM or KKGO 105.1 FM at 9:05 AM, Mon-Sat. Prices are 50 percent off, plus a service charge.
The 450-foot booth will be open 10 AM-9 PM, Mon-Fri; 10 AM-8 PM Sat; 11 AM-6 PM, Sun. For more information call (213) 614-0556. --By David Lefkowitz
