TimeSlips, a new play by Anne Basting, will be presented at Off-Off-Broadway's HERE Arts Center Oct. 30-Nov. 18 as a part of the month-long TimeSlips Project New York.

The play is based on stories created by people with Alzheimer's, using puppetry, movement and live music to dive into the imagination. In it, a group of colorful characters join together to aid each other in their journeys as their authors' memories fail them.

Directed by Christopher Bayes, the ensemble cast includes Hope Clarke (Purlie), John Friemann ("Devil's Advocate"), RSC veteran Jodie Lynn McClintock, Michael Shelle (Code of the West), Sheridan Thomas and Judith Van Buren.

The design team includes David Korins (sets), Diane D. Fairchild (lights), Christianne Myers (costumes) and Christopher M. Curtis and Aaron Halva (live music).

According to spokespersons at the Springer/Chicoine press office, Dr. Basting created the TimeSlips Project to bring people with Alzheimer's together with health care professionals and visual artists to explore and promote creative expression as well as increase public awareness of "the creative potential of people with dementia." Other events from the project include an art exhibition by Beth Thielen in the Empire State Building lobby, a website (www.timeslips.org) and "talk back sessions" after each performance.

There will also be a special benefit performance of TimeSlips for the Brookdale Center on Aging on Thursday, Nov. 8, featuring a discussion with Tony Award-winner Frances Sternhagen (The Heiress) and the CEO of the International Longevity Center, Dr. Robert Butler.
