News Tina Turner Bio Musical May Be Heading for London A new musical tracing the life of rock icon Tina Turner is currently aiming for a London debut, the New York Post reports.

Grammy winner Turner has penned the book for the autobiographical musical, which will feature the songs that are associated with her award-winning career. Among the tunes that will be heard in the bio musical are "Nutbush City Limits," "I Can't Stand the Rain," "Let's Stay Together," "Private Dancer" and "What's Love Got to Do With It?"

A workshop of the musical, which is titled Simply the Best, was held in London a year ago, the New York daily says. Plans are for a London debut next year with a Broadway run to follow.

The musical follows Turner from her birth in Tennessee through her discovery by Ike Turner, their marriage and his eventual abuse. Following their divorce, Tina Turner reinvents herself and becomes a 1980's chart topper. Another portion of the musical, the Post says, involves an Egyptian setting that involves Hatshepsut — who ruled Egypt from 1479-1458 BC — and Hatshepsut's evil stepson, Thutmose III.

"The Egyptian queen watches over Tina," the Post says. "When Ike pulls a gun on Tina, Hatshepsut shields her and the gun 'leaps' out of Ike's hand."

Tina Turner's life was also explored in the film "What's Love Got to Do With It," which cast Angela Basset as the famed singer; and River Deep, A Tribute to Tina Turner, a musical inspired by Turner's autobiography "I, Tina," that played The Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in July 2006. Tina Turner is the recipient of numerous Grammy Awards and the Kennedy Center Honors.
