A pair of stage and screen stars may soon brush up their Shakespeare. Tony and Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand are in talks to star in a new film adaptation of Macbeth, according to Deadline.

Fellow Oscar winner Joel Coen will direct and pen the screenplay. Broadway mogul Scott Rudin will produce the A24 project.

Washington, who returned to Broadway last year in a Tony-nominated performance in The Iceman Cometh, earned a Tony Award in 2010 for Fences; he subsequently earned an Oscar nod for his work in the 2016 film adaptation of the August Wilson play. He’s taken on the Bard before, appearing in Kenneth Branagh’s 1993 film version of Much Ado About Nothing and on Broadway in Julius Caesar.

Prior to winning an Oscar for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, McDormand took home a Tony Award in 2011 for Broadway’s Good People. She is no stranger to the Scottish play, having played Lady Macbeth in a 2016 Daniel Sullivan-helmed production at Berkeley Rep.
