Pamela Nyberg (Electra) stars in Shanley's 90-minute Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning work. Nyberg appears in the drama's central role of Sister Aloysius with New York actor Thomas Piper (LaMaMa's Richard III) as Father Flynn, Cara Mantella as Sister James and Donna Biscoe as Mrs. Muller.

Doubt begins in a Bronx, NY, Catholic parish, when Father Flynn is suspected by Sister Aloysius, the school's principal, of having an inappropriate relationship with one of his male students. The young boy's mother only complicates matters in her response to the allegations, thrusting Sister Aloysius into a conflicted dialogue about her own faith and the cost of the pursuit of truth.

The work is staged by Alliance Theatre artistic director Susan V. Booth with a creative team including Todd Rosenthal (set design), Mariann Verheyen (costume design), Deb Sullivan (lighting design), Clay Benning (sound design) and Jade Lambert Smith (dramaturg).

John Patrick Shanley has penned Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Defiance, Savage in Limbo and The Dreamer Examines His Pillow as well as the Oscar-winning screenplay for "Moonstruck." Shanley also directs his screenplay for the upcoming film adaptation of Doubt, starring Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams.

Tickets for Doubt – running through May 4 – are available by calling (404) 733-5000 or by visiting www.alliancetheatre.org. The Alliance Theatre is located within the Woodruff Arts Center, at the corner of Peachtree Street and 15th Street, in Atlanta, GA.
