According to People magazine, the actor was first treated for basel-cell carcinoma in November 2013. He then posted a photo online and said his wife Deborra-Lee Furness had encouraged him to get the "mark" checked.
Basel-cell carcinoma is the single most common form of cancer, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, and almost three million cases are diagnosed in the U.S. each year.
Jackman, who will host this year's Tony Awards June 8, is a Tony winner for The Boy From Oz and is a 2012 Special Tony recipient. He has also been seen on Broadway in A Steady Rain and Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway.
