"Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time," representatives for the couple said in a statement to Playbill.com. "Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time."

Diggs and Menzel, who have been married for ten years, met while co-starring in the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning 1996 production of Rent. The couple was married in 2003 and had a son, Walker, in 2009. Diggs and Menzel, who founded the A BroaderWay Foundation to provide arts-education to young women in underserved communities, also shared the stage in Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party and on Broadway in Wicked.

In a recent interview with Playbill.com, looking back at Wicked's tenth anniversary, Menzel said, "I did not think I was going to win [the 2004 Tony Award], so it was pretty astounding. In fact, I didn't even think about a speech until that morning, and I was crying with my husband the morning of… He was really helpful [in preparing my speech]… so later on it was really great when I was there and I hit all of my marks with the speech. He was so proud of me."
