News Tony Winner Paulo Szot Plays The Cafe Carlyle Beginning Feb. 1 Paulo Szot, who won a Tony Award for his performance as Emile de Becque in Lincoln Center Theater's Tony-winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, returns to the Cafe Carlyle Feb. 1.

The opera-singer-turned-Broadway-star will play the Manhattan nightspot through Feb. 12.  Szot will offer shows Tuesday-Friday at 8:45 PM and Saturday at 8:45 PM and 10:45 PM.

Szot will perform songs from from the Great American Songbook, the worlds of Broadway and jazz, as well as tunes from his native Brazil. He will be supported by The Bob Albanese Trio.

Szot made his operatic debut as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in his native Sao Paolo before going on to sing lead roles with major opera companies internationally. He won the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards for his performance in South Pacific.
