Director John Rando, who won a Tony for his direction of Urinetown, will direct the Globe Theatre's summer production of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, playing in the outdoors Lowell Davies Festival Theatre June 23-Aug. 4.

Taming of the Shrew pits the strong-willed Petrucio against the equally stubborn Katherine in a comic battle of the sexes. Although beautiful, young Bianca has several suitors for her hand, she can't be married until her shrewish older sister Kate is passed off on some unlucky man. The rakish Petrucio takes the challenge of taming the shrew and learns a few things about love even as Katherine learns to love him.

Jeffrey Nordling ("Once and Again") is Petrucio with Alley Theatre resident company actor Elizabeth Heflin as Katherine. Also in the cast are Laura Heisler (Bianca), Arnie Burton (Grumio), Remy Aberjonois (Lucentio), Jack Banning (Curtis/Tailor), Keith Jochim (Vincentio), Side Man's Michael Mastro (Hortensio), John Seidman (Pendant), Nanka Strugis (Peter), Rainn Wilson (Tranio), D'Vorah Bailey (Philip), Jeffrey Brick (Biondello), David Raphael D'Agostini (Nathaniel), Brian Ibsen (Haberdasher), Antonie Knoppers (Officer), Dakin Matthews (Baptista), Jonathan McMurtry (Gremio) and Eleanor O'Brien (Widow).
