News Toronto Will Be Alive With Sound of Music to Sept. 6; Extension on Sale May 2 The new Toronto production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, directed by Jeremy Sams and co-produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, has been extended again, this time to Sept. 6, at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

Tickets for the added weeks go on sale May 2. The Sound of Music began previews Oct. 3, 2008, and opened Oct. 15 to solid reviews.

The production features Broadway's Burke Moses (Beauty and the Beast) as Capt. Von Trapp and reality TV competitors (of "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?") Elicia MacKenzie and Janna Polzin alternating as Maria Rainer. This is the North American premiere of the recent London production that also cast its leading lady on a TV competition.

Arlene Phillips choregraphs. The last show by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II features a libretto by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse.

The producers are Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian, The Really Useful Theatre and David Mirvish.

A new performance schedule begins May 19: Tuesday to Saturday at 7:30 PM; Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 PM. Tickets are $26-$120 and are available online at www.mirvish.com or by calling Ticketking at (416) 872-1212 or (800) 461-3333.
