News Toxic Avenger Musical Documentary to Premiere in March "Hot Toxic Love," a new documentary of the Toronto production of the satirical rock musical The Toxic Avenger, will premiere March 7 on Canada's Citytv.

The documentary, told from the point of view of Tony-nominated stage veteran Louise Pitre and newcomer Evan Alexander Smith, traces the Toronto production from auditions to opening night. "Hot Toxic Love" also promises a glimpse into the technical tricks of the show and backstage antics.

Tony Award-winning director John Rando (Urinetown), who helmed the Off-Broadway production of Avenger, repeated his duties for the Toronto production that began previews Oct. 20, 2009, and officially opened Oct. 31. The Toronto run concluded Jan. 2, 2010, at the Music Hall.

Toxic Avenger features music and lyrics by Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan (Memphis), and book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Memphis).

Mamma Mia! star Pitre appeared in the dual roles of Mayor Babs Belgoody and Ma Ferd, with Smith as Melvin Ferd the Third. The company also featured Brittany Gray (We Will Rock You, "Amelia") as Sarah, Jamie McKnight, Daren A. Herbert, Cara Leslie and Peter Deiwick.
