News Track Listing Announced for New Karen Akers CD, "Like it Was" The complete track listing has been announced for the newest recording from cabaret and theatre star Karen Akers, who is currently playing Algonquin's Oak Room through May 13.

Entitled "Like it Was," Akers' CD will be available on the DRG Records label in June. The 15-track disc features a host of standards as well as its title song, "Like it Was," which was composed by Stephen Sondheim for Merrily We Roll Along.

Advance copies of "Like it Was" are currently available at the Oak Room where Akers is presenting her newest cabaret program, First You Dream: The Songs of Kander & Ebb.

Karen Akers received a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut as Luisa Contini in the original Tommy Tune-directed production of Nine and returned to Broadway in another Tune musical, Grand Hotel. Her feature film credits include "The Purple Rose of Cairo," "Heartburn" and "Vibes," and she was seen in an episode of the hit TV series "Cheers." It's been the concert/cabaret stage where Akers has been most praised. Her solo recordings — including "Presenting Karen Akers," "In a Very Unusual Way" and "If We Only Have Love" — are available on CD.
