PlayBlog Trailer for "Jack Goes Boating" Features Hoffman, Ryan, Rubin-Vega and Ortiz (Video) Academy Award-winning and Tony-nominated actor Philip Seymour Hoffman makes his film directorial debut with “Jack Goes Boating,” a silver-screen adaptation of Bob Glaudini’s play about two working-class couples in New York, which is scheduled for limited release Sept. 17. The trailer for the film was recently released online.

Hoffman (“Capote,” “Doubt,” Long Day’s Journey Into Night, True West) also stars in the film as lonely limo driver Jack, a role he played in the play’s premiere at the LAByrinth Theater Company in 2007. Oscar and Tony nominee Amy Ryan (“Gone Baby Gone,” A Streetcar Named Desire) plays Connie, a funeral-home employee to whom he slowly finds himself connecting.

Tony nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent) and John Ortiz (Othello) repeat their stage roles as Jack’s friends Lucy and Clyde, respectively, a couple who introduce Jack and Connie but whose marriage starts to fall apart as Jack and Connie’s relationship blossoms.

Glaudini adapted his play for the screen. To enjoy the trailer, look below:
