Trans Voices Cabaret Will Return After Sold-Out Fall Premiere | Playbill

Playbill Pride Trans Voices Cabaret Will Return After Sold-Out Fall Premiere The evening showcases the talents of up-and-coming transgender and non-binary performers in New York City's acting scene.
Donnie Cianciotto, Em Grosland, and Kita Updike

After a sold-out November debut, Trans Voices Cabaret will return to the Duplex February 25 at 3:30 PM for a second installment showcasing the work of New York City’s diverse transgender and gender non-conforming community of artists.

Transgender actor and producer Donnie Cianciotto (Southern Comfort), who directs and performs in the concert, created Trans Voices Cabaret in response to the lack of performance opportunities available to many transmen, transwomen, and non-binary singers, who also find themselves overlooked during the casting process.

“I had to turn about 20 performers away this time because there were so many interested participants,” Cianciotto said in a statement. “To me, that indicates that there really is a large, diverse community of talented TGNC performers in New York City who are ready and able to work, and I hope that Trans Voices Cabaret draws attention to that fact.”

The upcoming concert will feature returning performers Maybe Burke, Izzy Castaldi, Samy el-Noury, Jordan Ho, Kita Updike, and Julian Wolfe, who will be joined by Andi Lee Carter, Aidan Cleary, Ian Fields Stewart, Sandy Gooen, Em Grosland, Jacob Michael, and Tonilyn Sideco. Musical direction is by Brandon James Gwinn.

Tickets ($10 in advance, $15 at the door) are available at theduplex.com. The Duplex is located at 61 Christopher Street, New York City.
