Classic Arts News Transmigration of Souls to Get National Broadcast Next Month The New York Philharmonic's world premiere performance of John Adams' On the Transmigration of Souls will be rebroadcast on the orchestra's nationally syndicated radio program next month.
The Philharmonic commissioned the work to mark the one-year anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks and debuted it on September 19, 2002. The orchestra's CD of the work won three Grammy Awards, including Best Classical Recording, on February 13.

The broadcast of Transmigration, which was scheduled before the Philharmonic's Grammy win, will take place the week of March 1; in the New York City area, it can be heard on 96.3 WQXR on March 1 at 9 p.m. The New York Philharmonic This Week, syndicated by Chicago's WFMT, is carried on more than 300 stations around the country.

The concert, conducted by Lorin Maazel, also featured Beethoven's NInth Symphony. It can be heard via the Philharmonic's web site for a week after the broadcast.
