According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon is investing in musical comedy. Transparent creator Jill Solloway is reportedly going to executive produce a musical comedy as part of her overall Amazon deal. The project is created and written by Transparent writer Ethan Kuperberg.

The story will follow “a woman’s search for love and self-discover in Los Angeles.” A Yale graduate, Kuperberg worked on the viral video “That’s Why I Chose Yale,” a 17-minute musical spoof on recruiting prospective students. Kuperberg’s writing has also been seen in The New Yorker.

Transparent's Andrea Sperling (another Transparent name) is also an executive producer.

Musical series have gained popularity over the years with television shows like Glee, Nashville and Empire featuring musical performances in their episodes as characters sing in recording studios, concert venues and singing competitions. But, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, created by Rachel Bloom and starring Bloom and stage favorites Santino Fontana and Donna Lynne Champlin, was one of the first to follow the traditional musical theatre format—nary a music industry premise in sight. Could Kuperberg’s untitled project be similar?
