On April 6 two-time Tony nominee Mary Testa, back on Broadway in the revival of Guys and Dolls, will perform her one-woman show, Sleepless Variations at 9:30 PM. The show, according to press notes, "tells a tale of one woman's sleepless night of fears, fantasies, and dreams, expressed through a cycle of songs by composers as varied as Jimi Hendrix, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Björk." Testa will be backed by orchestrator/musical director Michael Starobin on piano. Side Show Tony nominee Emily Skinner will perform her solo show, Broadway Her Way, April 19 at 7 PM. Expect tunes by Rodgers, Sondheim, Gershwin, Kern and Berlin as well as several up-n-coming composers.
There will be a reception with the artists following both shows.
Both shows will play 220 East 4th Street, between Avenues A & B. Tickets, priced $19, are available by visiting www.transportgroup.org or by phoning (212) 352-3101.
