News Trevor Ashley to Reprise Liza (on An E) for Short U.K. Tour Including West End Date Australian musical theatre star Trevor Ashley, who previously brought his show Liza (on an E) to the West End's Vaudeville Theatre for a six-performance run in May, is to return to the West End, appearing this time at the Lyric for one night only Oct. 7, preceded by a short U.K. tour to Brighton's Theatre Royal (Sept. 30), Manchester's Dancehouse (Oct. 1-2) and the Liverpool Room at the Echo Arena in Liverpool (Oct. 5).

According to press materials, Ashley (who, of course, channels Liza Minnelli in the show), "dishes the dirt on her extraordinary life like you've never seen her before, from her marriage to Australia's song-and-dance darling, Peter Allen, to her notorious pill-popping and ubiquitous showbiz family. Accompanied by a live on stage band, Ashley channels Liza (and her alter egos), with guest appearances by her mother." She performs all her greatest hits, including "Cabaret," "Maybe this Time" and "New York, New York," together with several parody songs. The show is co-written by Ashley with Dean Bryant, associate director of the original Australian production of Priscilla Queen – of the Desert, in which Ashley played the role of Miss Understanding. Bryant also directs the show, with musical direction by James Simpson and joined by guest artist Christopher Mitchell. It is presented by Neil Eckersley for Speckulation Entertainment.

Ashley has also appeared in Gale Edwards' production of Jerry Springer – The Opera at Sydney Opera House. He played the cross-dressing role of Edna Turnblad in Hairspray in both Melbourne and Sydney, and played Franz Leibkind in the Australian production of The Producers in Melbourne.
