A production of the courtroom drama 12 Angry Men will be playing for two nights of fundraising at the Tricycle Theatre, on the Dec. 8 and 9.

The play, written by Reginald Rose, is probably best known for its 1957 adaptation to the screen in a film starring Henry Fonda, a dissenting juror in a murder trial who slowly manages to convince the others that the case is not as obviously clear as it seems in court.

Jack Gold, known for his television productions of The Naked Civil Servant and Kavanagh QC, directs Rose's courtroom drama. Tickets will be £75- £5 to see the show, with an additional £70 donation towards the Tricycle Education Program and funding for new plays.

In September 2001, the Tricycle Theatre had auditions for real-life solicitors and barristers to take to the stage in this fund-raising production. Artistic director Nicolas Kent hoped that members of the legal profession might enjoy the chance to perform outside of the courtroom, for once, and bring their performing abilities onto a theatrical stage. So the production will indeed feature a real-life magistrate as part of the cast.

The Tricycle is already well established within legal circles, renowned for its productions of The Colour of Justice, Nuremberg and Half the Picture.
