News Trinity Rep to Stage Clybourne Park, Boeing-Boeing and Three World Premieres Bruce Norris' Clybourne Park and repertory productions of three world premieres from Deborah Salem Smith, George Brant and artistic director Curt Columbus are on the 2011-2012 bill for Rhode Island's Trinity Repertory Company.

His Girl Friday, John Guare's adaptation of Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur's 1929 play The Front Page, will launch the season Sept. 9-Oct. 9. Trinity Rep artistic director Columbus will direct the comedy about a tough editor and his star journalist (who is also his ex-wife).

Norris' acclaimed drama Clybourne Park, which played an extended run Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons, will follow Oct. 14-Nov. 13. The work uses the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning drama A Raisin in the Sun to spin a new, contemporary tale about race in America as neighborhood demographics shift.

From Feb. 16-May, 27, 2012, Trinity Rep will offer world-premiere repertory productions of The Mourners’ Bench by Brant, Love Alone by Smith and Sparrow Grass by artistic director Columbus.

Here's how Trinity Rep bills the works:

Sparrow Grass. "Inspired by Racine’s Phèdre, the classic tragedy is brought into focus within our current time. A woman's dark and misdirected passion threatens to destroy a family from within." Love Alone. "After a routine medical procedure goes tragically wrong, the lives of both the patient’s family and the doctor charged with her care are transformed. A lovingly drawn portrait of how we grieve and how we heal."

The Mourners' Bench. "A quietly intriguing interwoven tale of a moment of terrible loss that reaches beyond time. Testing the limits of fate and redemption, these very human characters struggle to overcome their shared dark history."

Also planned is Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice (Feb. 3-March 4, 2012) under Columbus' direction; and the Marc Camoletti farce about a bachelor with a flat full of stewardesses, Boeing-Boeing (April 13-May 13, 2012). The company will also offer returning holiday productions of A Christmas Carol (Nov. 18-Dec. 30); and It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (Dec. 9-Dec. 31).
