The piano ensemble Trio con Brio Copenhagen has been awarded the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award.

It is the second time that the prize, given by the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, has been awarded. It is given biennially to promising young piano trios.

Trio con Brio Copenhagen is made up of pianist Jens Elvekjaer, violinist Soo-Jin Hong, and cellist Soo-Kyung Hong. The ensemble was formed in 1999 in Vienna, and has played at festivals throughout Europe and Asia. During the 2005-06 season, it will perform in Finland, Germany, Norway, Denmark, and England.

The prize, the name of which honors the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, includes a recording on Azica Records and a series of 20 concerts, presented by various chamber-music societies throughout the United States, over the next two years.

The award's previous winner, the Claremont Trio, will complete its tour during the 2005-06 season; the Trio con Brio Copenhagen will perform these concerts in 2006-07 and 2007-08.
