Is it theatre? Is it art? Euphor!um, Chris Hardman's multi-media dissection of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "Kubla Khan," will extend in its current home, Building 920 at The Presidio, through Feb. 24. Euphor!um has been playing since October 2001 after premiering last spring. Coleridge needed opium to get to the state Hardman and Antenna Theater seek to create with ten separate enviornmental chambers based on verses from "Kublai Khan." The audience, wandering singly through the various rooms, wear a specially designed helmet that plays an MP3 score, combined with voices, sound effects and the poem's text. 3-D paintings and illusionary tricks (likened to a carnival fun house) provide the visual effects.

Tickets are $15. Building 920 is located in The Presidio opposite Crissy Field. For reservations, call (415) 332-9454. Euphor!um is on the web at http://www.antenna theater.org/euphorium.htm.
