The world premiere adaptation by Kimberly Senior of Euripides' Trojan Women is now running through Oct. 10 at the Athenaeum Studio Theatre in Chicago.

Presented by the Chicago's CollaborAction Theatre Company, now in its third season, Trojan Women is a modern adaptation of the classic anti-war piece.

Among other updates to the material, Senior, who is both artistic director and production director at CollaborAction, had the play set to music.

"I adapted this classic and timeless piece to make it more accessible to modern audiences," Senior explained. "While paying homage to the tradition of Greek tragedy, I have adapted the text to be more action-oriented and have added music to underscore the myriad themes, which include violence, love, gender roles and destiny."

Senior went on to say that he considers Trojan Women the greatest anti-war play in recorded history, and that it was important to present the piece. Cast members for the production include Sandra Delago as Helen, Diahanna Davidson as Hecuba, Mark Hicks as Poseidon, Lily Fortin as Athena and Liza Williams as Cassandra. Guest artists include Scott Buechler. Derek Burke, Cheryl Chamblee, Naomi DeLucco, Rossanna DiSilvio. Porter Kelly, Myles Leevy, Sian Richards, Lis Rouppas, Stacy Stolz and Noah Simon.

Trojan Women opened Sept. 9 and runs Thur.-Sat. at 8 PM and Sun. at 3 PM. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 902-1500 or by visiting ticketmaster.com.
