News TUTS Throws "White Christmas in July" Snow Day July 20 Houston will get a dose of Christmas in July when producers of the Theatre Under the Stars production of White Christmas blanket the Hobby Center with 15,000 pounds of freshly fallen snow on July 20.

The "White Christmas in July" event marks the on-sale date of general public tickets to TUTS' resident production of Irving Berlin's White Christmas, which will run Dec. 4-21.

From 12-2 PM the Hobby Center will offer Houston theatregoers the chance to frolic in the snow, have their photo taken with Santa, build a snowman and win discounts on tickets to Irving Berlin's White Christmas.

Inspired by the popular 1954 film of the same title, Irving Berlin's White Christmas includes the Berlin songs "Snow," "Sisters," "Blue Skies," "I Love a Piano," "Count Your Blessings" and the title song. The musical follows two army veterans turned vaudevillian hoofers who team with a pair of songbird sisters to save a Vermont in run by a retired army general.

The 2004 stage adaptation – with a book by David Ives and Paul Blake – premiered in San Francisco. With direction by Bobbie and choreography by Randy Skinner, the premiere spawned several sit-down productions across the U.S. and is now eyeing a future Broadway run this holiday season.

The resident TUTS production, as licensed from R&H Theatricals, is not to be confused with the franchise. The Houston run will be a unique resident work, directed and designed especially for TUTS audiences. Casting and creative duties for the TUTS run of Irving Berlin's White Christmas will be announced at a later date.

TUTS subscribers may purchase tickets for Irving Berlin's White Christmas beginning July 13. For tickets phone (888) 558-3882 or visit www.TUTS.org.
